Well done at the Ambrose Treacy Umweltclub. Wonderful effort. Looking back on 2015, the Environmental Club has set itself a goal: to rejuvenate the rainforest area on the university grounds adjacent to Witton Creek and the Brisbane River. Years of dedicated work by ATC student Alex Davies and a tram of assistants have helped achieve this goal and dismantle it! Last week, while Alex was preparing for his degree, he gave a gift to the university. His passion for our sewer site led him to collect and preserve the butterfly specimens found there today. Some species are only present because of the team`s dedicated work in planting the vegetation needed to form the niche cosmos in which these species thrive. Alex is an eco-warrior passionate about the environment, wildlife and the impact of climate change on our world. Since the Junior School, he has worked very hard to educate his classmates (and collaborators) with his vast knowledge of animals, plants and insects.

Together with members of the Environmental Club, he spent thousands of hours revitalizing our Gully Precinct and robbing it in its natural state. He planted hundreds of trees, created a beautiful green space and maintained the environment for native species. He reintroduced species that haven`t been seen at Witton Creek Catchment in decades. Over the past 5 years, Alex has impressed members of local environmental groups and Brisbane City Council with his passion and motivation.
